Howdy folks!
In this post I want to talk about the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. InterNACHI is is the largest organization of residential home inspectors in the world. InterNACHI certified inspectors are some of the most well trained and well-respected inspectors in the United States. I’m proud to be a member of InterNACHI and a home inspector in Charlotte, NC.
Some people might ask, what’s so special about being a member of InterNACHI? I mean anyone can join AAA or become a member of the Sierra Club. Membership to InterNACHI is much more selective and only the most knowledgeable inspectors are able to pass the entrance exam. Being able to pass the exam ensures that when consumers hire an InterNACHI certified inspector, they are hiring the best!
In addition to passing the entrance exam, all members must complete a minimum of 24 hours continuing education to maintain their eligibility. This is in addition to any State required CE. The classes and training they offer are so in depth and beneficial, that many inspectors, including myself, far exceed the minimum of 24 hours of CE.
One of the things that I like most about InterNACHI is part of their larger mission is to protect consumers and homeowners by helping educating them about the functions, systems and components of their homes. I think this greatly enhances the value of the home inspection industry. By making their inspectors abide by a strict Code of Ethics and follow an in depth Standards of Practice, InterNACHI is able to ensure that the consumers are protected and the industry stays strong.
