Howdy Folks,
One of the things people worry about when buying a new house are all the unseen problems. Mold, lead based paint, asbestos, contaminated well water are just a few of the issues that could be present in a home, but not be detected by the homeowner. Of all the unseen problems in a home, one of the most serious is the presence of Radon Gas. This is why I always suggest testing for radon gas when you buy a home. Did you know that Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers? Radon gas is some really nasty stuff and Howdy Home Inspections wants to protect you from it. We want your future home to be a place that you and your family are safe.
When you hire Howdy Home Inspections for a Charlotte Home Inspection we will use a continuous monitor radon Machine to get the quickest, most accurate results. Continuous monitor machines measure the radon levels in your home every hour for 48 hours. Once the test is completed, we will provide you with a full report of your average radon levels as well as the hourly readings. If radon levels in your home come back higher than the EPA’s “action level” threshold of 4.0 pCi/L then we’ll explain to you the different methods of mitigation that will get the levels down to a safe and acceptable range. Here at Howdy Home Inspections, we use SunNuclear 1028 radon testing machines. These are the most advanced and accurate machines on the market.
Unlike leaky pipes or a leaky roof, radon gas cannot be detected without sophisticated testing. It is odorless, colorless and tasteless. You can read more in depth information about radon gas in my other blog posts. In a nutshell, radon is a decay product of Uranium, which is the most abundant radioactive element on earth. It originates from the rock and soil beneath your home and then rises up through the slab or basement into where you live. Fortunately, by testing for radon gas we can determine the levels in you home and begin to reduce the levels through proper mitigation methods.
When you set up a home inspection in Charlotte, Howdy Home Inspections will talk with you about radon gas and our procedure for testing. The most important thing to us is the health and safety of your family. Making sure your house has low levels of radon is at the top of that list. Don’t let this unseen killer harm your family or your real estate investment. Call Howdy Home Inspections today to schedule your radon test!
